Compared to other classic Pokemon games, Pokemon Rumble Rush is more of a brawler type game rather than an adventure type. The mechanics are as
simple and easy
as the game’s controls. At the start of the game, players will receive a Ratata as their partner in completing the first, early stages. They can add
various pokemon
to their arsenal as they progress in the game.
As mentioned, Pokemon Rumble Rush falls under the beat-'em-up genre, so do not expect an RPG type of gameplay where there will be wild grass to venture into in search of wild Pokemon. Each stage is designed in a way where there are a scatter of wild Pokemon throughout the field. Your Pokemon will automatically approach nearby Pokemon, but in order to commence an attack, you will have to

on your screen
continuously
until you defeat the enemies. To dodge an enemy’s attack, you only need to swipe your finger towards a direction to avoid getting hit.
There is a
final boss
in each level, and you will face them towards the end after defeating all their other Pokemon underlings. However, not all final bosses can be fought by eliminating the other wild Pokemon in an area.
Super Bosses
are different from the normal ones because there are certain requirements that you will need to meet. For instance, your Pokemon should be able to be at a certain CP level before it can fight against the Super Boss. So, if you do not meet the requirement, you will have to train harder. To make things more challenging, you will need to defeat the Super Boss Pokemon within a given time limit.
Make your Pokemon stronger
Players can upgrade their Pokemon by acquiring
ore
and refining it to make
power gears
and
summon gears
. Strengthening is important if you want to cover more ground and defeat more bosses, especially the Super Boss Pokemon. However, only one ore can be gained per stage. You will have to explore the island to look for more stages using a
guide feather
. These guide feathers are dropped by normal Boss Pokemon so you will have to watch out for them.
