Armed with a poorly functioning spacesuit and a choice of bizarre characters, Mars: Mars tasks players with exploring the red planet. The gameplay is as simple as jumping between platforms, refuelling your jet pack with each landing. This adorable game quickly becomes enthralling thanks to the tight controls, clean graphics and ramping difficult. A range of wacky characters handle slightly differently, bringing an element of repeatability and humour. The game is available as either a free option with ads or a premium version without, but thankfully the ads are minimal and unobtrusive. Against so many free mobile games lacking in controls or being forceful with ads and micro transactions, the makers of Mars: Mars have created a fun exception which you will return to again and again.
Pick up and play
Mars: Mars is a great time waster which can be understood instantly while retaining interest over time. The controls are basic in the best possible way, the graphics are clean but impressive and a the overall space atmosphere is spot on. A great pickup for the odd game.
